Turkish Spinach And Cheese Pastry

The holiday season is almost here, and we usually carve food items that are unique and different from the daily casual routine. So, this season I found something different which is Turkish Spinach and Cheese Pastry. The cheese in it tastes the yummiest with the spinach filling. It seems like a distant dream!

I’ve always enjoyed experimenting with simple items to improve their appearance and flavor. While vegetables are delicious and classic on their own, they may need a little freshening up now and then. This Turkish Spinach and Cheese Pastry recipe is a delicious way to transform ordinary spinach into something extraordinary.

The most surprising thing about these pastries is they are very easy to make and delicious to eat. I usually make these for my kids. They just love the crispness and mouthwatering aroma of these pastries. The beauty of this recipe is that there is no age restriction. These munches are a winner from children to adults. Turkish Spinach and Cheese Pastry

The holiday season is almost here, and we usually carve food items that are unique and different from the daily casual routine. So, this season I found something different which is Turkish Spinach and Cheese Pastry.
Course: Side Dish
Cuisine: Mediterranean
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon oil/ghee
  • 1/2 tablespoon garlic paste
  • 1 Medium size chopped carrot
  • 1 cup spinach(wilted)
  • To taste        Salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1/4  tablespoon red chili powder
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Puff pastry
  • Egg

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, add oil or ghee. When it starts becoming warm add garlic paste and sauté it for few seconds.
  • Now add chopped carrot and fry it for 2-3 minutes. Then add wilted spinach and again fry for 3-4 minutes.
  • After this, add the spices: salt, coriander powder, red chili powder, and again sauté it for 2-3 minutes.
  • Let the mixture come to room temperature. Whenever it cooled completely add cheddar cheese to it.
  • Now take the rolled puff pastry in rectangular form and cut it into 8 equal squares.
  • After this, place 1 tbsp of the mixture in the center of the squares.
  • So, basically in this recipe, you can make four different shapes of pastry.
Square shape: Bring the four corners of the pastry in the center and tuck them together gently.
Rectangular shape: Just fold over the pastry and seal the ends with a frock.
Triangular shape: Fold the pastry to make a triangular shape and seal the sides again using a frock.
Flower shape: Cut the ends of the pastry at an equal distance and stick these like petals around the mixture. It will give it a very beautiful rose flower look.
  • Now, egg washes the pastries.
  • After this bake them for 20-25 minutes at 170C.
  • These amazing pastries are ready to serve and enjoy!

Notes

The key to work with the pastry is that it should be completely defrosted. If it starts getting too soft or sticky, put it in the fridge for 10-15 minutes
