Aalu Ka Paratha

“Aalu ka Paratha” is one of the most favorite and delicious paratha of all. Out of the normal routine, sometimes it happens that there is nothing to cook, or you have limited time for cooking due to other house hold or outdoor jobs. So here is a quick recipe of “Aalu ka Paratha”. The best thing about this is that it does not require to boil the potato before making this. When you are out of pantry to cook or limited time for cooking, potatoes are good choice and, in this choice, Aalu ka Paratha is best one.

My whole family loved potatoes, so I thought to try this recipe. I made parathas following my own recipe and we ate these at lunch time. While eating, they were so amazed that these were delicious in taste and made instantly. That experience was so satisfied and well needed. AALU KA PARATHA

“Aalu ka Paratha” is one of the most favorite and delicious paratha of all. When you are out of pantry to cook or limited time for cooking, potatoes are good choice and, in this choice, Aalu ka Paratha is best one.

Ingredients

  • 1 large potato
  • few Fresh coriander leaves
  • 1 green chilli
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp coriander seeds
  • 1 tbsp red chilli powder
  • salt to taste
  • oil for frying
  • 500 g whole meal flour

Instructions

  • Take a large potato, peel it off and then grate the peeled potato.
  • Squeeze all the moisture from grated potato. There should not be any moisture left, otherwise Paratha will not be stick together. 
  • Then add fresh coriander leaves, chopped green chilli, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, red chilli powder, and salt. Mix everything all together.
  • Now make 4 small balls with kneaded flour. 
  • Then take one ball out of four, roll it in a small, rounded shape (Roti) and set it aside. Repeat the same process for second dough ball. 
  • Now take one small rolled (Roti) and spread half of the potato mixture evenly. Then cover it will the second small(Roti) rolled one. Make sure you seal the edges properly from all sides, otherwise potato mixture will come out. 
  • Then will the help of hands, roll it more until you get the desired size of Paratha. 
  • Heat the Pan / tawa. Make sure it is heated enough before you put the Paratha on. 
  • Put the Paratha on the heated pan / tawa. And cook it on medium heat.
  • When it is cooked from one side, pour some ghee / oil and turn the side. Cook from both sides thoroughly. 
  • Now take them out and serve instantly with plain yoghurt or Raita and enjoy!

Notes

  • 1 large potato is enough for 2 parathas, but if you like more mixture filling then you can take more potatoes.
  • Knead the flour for at least 1 hour before making the Paratha, so the dough is set properly, and gluten is formed well. I am using whole meal flour.
  • You can enjoy this Paratha with any sauce like mint Chutney etc.
